Sony Pictures and Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes have revealed a star-studded lineup for The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event.
BAFTA winner Mia McKenna-Bruce, four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Anna Sawai, and BAFTA TV Award winner Aimee Lou Wood will portray the women behind the legendary band in Mendes’ ambitious multi-film saga.
McKenna-Bruce will play Maureen (Cox) Starkey, first wife of Ringo Starr; Ronan will appear as Linda (Eastman) McCartney; Sawai will take on the role of Yoko Ono; and Wood will star as Pattie Boyd, muse and wife to George Harrison.
“Maureen, Linda, Yoko and Pattie are four fascinating and unique figures in their own right,” Mendes said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that we’ve managed to persuade four of the most talented women working in film today to join this amazing adventure.”
The upcoming films will explore The Beatles’ rise, relationships and enduring influence — told through four interwoven stories, each from the perspective of one of the band’s members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
Mendes’ vision marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles’ surviving members have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted narrative. The project stars Harris Dickinson, Barry Keoghan, Paul Mescal, and Joseph Quinn as the iconic quartet.
Sony Pictures will finance and distribute the four films globally, with theatrical releases planned for April 2028.
Additional casting announcements — including portrayals of Cynthia Lennon, Brian Epstein, George Martin, and Ravi Shankar — are expected in the coming months.
The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event will be distributed in the Philippines by Columbia Pictures, the local arm of Sony Pictures Releasing International.
