Manila Water expands network to boost service reliability

East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Company Inc. has expanded its water distribution network to 5,622.22 kilometers as of August, driven by sustained infrastructure investments to meet rising demand and improve service reliability in Metro Manila and Rizal.

The Razon-led firm said Monday that its total network length rose by 58.58 kilometers from 5,563.64 kilometers a year earlier.

The expansion allows the utility to absorb additional supply from new treatment facilities coming online this year, including the 50 million liters per day (MLD) East Bay Water Supply System Phase 1, the 80 MLD Calawis Water Treatment Plant, and the 110 MLD Cardona Treatment Plant.

“This steady growth in our network coverage is a testament to Manila Water’s commitment to delivering safe and reliable water to more communities. As we expand our reach, we also ensure that our service quality remains high, with 24/7 reliable water supply,” said Manila Water Corporate Communications Department Head Dittie Galang.

The company said its expanded network is part of a long-term strategy to enhance operational efficiency and support development in rapidly growing areas of the East Zone.

It also reported maintaining strict water safety standards, with 100 percent compliance at plant outlets and 97.53 percent compliance in distribution, exceeding regulatory targets.

Manila Water said the continued expansion supports its growing customer base, which has reached 1,209,303 service connections—comprising 1,149,889 domestic accounts and 59,414 commercial and industrial connections.
