‘The Resurrected’ breaks new ground

The Resurrected isn’t just a hit — it’s a movement. Netflix has just rolled out official profile icons for the dark mystery thriller, letting fans wear their devotion front and center. More than just a fun update, it marks a cultural milestone: this is the first time a Chinese-language series has been immortalized with its own Netflix icons.

Since its premiere on 9 October, The Resurrected has ignited screens across Asia-Pacific. The series has dominated Netflix’s Top 10 non-English lists in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam — even rising to number one in several regions during the week of 13 October. Viewers have been captivated by its eerie atmosphere, emotional depth and powerhouse performances from stars Shu Qi, Sinje Lee and
Fu Meng-po.

‘The Resurrected’ centers on two mothers united by hatred, seeking revenge for their daughters caught in a fraud and kidnapping case.

The new icons — available across web, mobile and TV — let viewers transform their profiles into a reflection of their favorite characters, whether they’re drawn to Shu Qi’s enigmatic intensity or Sinje Lee’s quiet resolve. It’s a small detail with big emotional weight: every time you log in, your profile becomes a portal into The Resurrected’s haunting world.

Netflix has also sweetened the moment with a new behind-the-scenes featurette, revealing how directors Leste Chen and Hsu Chao-jen brought the story’s supernatural realism to life. From stunning ritual sequences to raw, grief-fueled performances, the featurette peels back the curtain on what makes the show so mesmerizing.

With help from a mysterious goddess, the mothers revive the deceased ringleader of the fraud scheme to punish him.

Set in the shadowy city of Benkha, The Resurrected follows two mothers consumed by loss — and the dangerous magic they invoke to right a cosmic wrong. Their choices blur the line between love and obsession, justice and damnation.

With global streaming access and now its own digital icons, The Resurrected is a symbol of how Asian storytelling is shaping the world’s entertainment landscape. Fans everywhere can now stream, mourn and resurrect — one profile icon at a time.
