The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently welcomed 71 delegates of Miss Earth 2025 in a special event titled “Media Moments with Miss Earth 2025 Delegates,” held at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City. The gathering underscored the shared mission between the government and the Miss Earth organization to promote environmental protection and sustainability.

A celebration of beauty with purpose

In his opening message, DENR Undersecretary Ernesto D. Adobo Jr. emphasized the vital role of women and the youth in addressing what he called the “triple planetary crisis” — climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution.

“Miss Earth is a pageant like no other. It nurtures not only the beauty and brains of its candidates, but equally, and as importantly, their commitment to caring for our planet — a responsibility that all of us share,” Adobo said.

He further praised the Miss Earth queens as “testaments to the power of women as contributors to solutions to the most pressing challenges of our time.”

Strengthening a longstanding partnership

Undersecretary Adobo also reaffirmed the DENR’s partnership with Carousel Productions Inc., the organization behind Miss Earth. He noted that both institutions share the same advocacy — promoting climate action, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.

“The DENR is honored to stand alongside Miss Earth in bringing beauty to the world by being staunch stewards of the planet,” he said.

Advocacies in action

Now marking its 25th year, Miss Earth continues to empower its delegates to champion environmental causes in their respective countries. During the event, candidates proudly presented their advocacies and participated in a Philippine terno showcase, where USA, Réunion Island, Netherlands, and the Philippines were recognized as Best in Philippine Terno. Meanwhile, Ghana, Belize, and Australia were hailed as Media Favorites.

The celebration culminated in a symbolic tree-planting activity at the DENR Heroes Park, where reigning Miss Earth 2024 titleholders joined DENR officials and Carousel Productions representatives in planting Balitbitan seedlings — a native tree species known for its resilience and ecological value.

A shared vision for a greener future

The event reaffirmed Miss Earth’s enduring mission: to merge the influence of beauty with environmental advocacy. As the delegates embark on their journey toward the coronation night, the collaboration with the DENR stands as a powerful reminder that protecting the planet requires both leadership and collective action.

Together, the DENR and Miss Earth 2025 have shown that true beauty lies in the commitment to sustain life on Earth — one tree, one voice, and one action at a time.
