The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) is set to hold the Subic Bay Halloween Shack Competition for employees of the agency at the Mini Golf Course, Waterfront Road, in Subic Bay Freeport Zone on 24 October 2025.

According to SBMA Tourism Manager Jem Camba, “We are transforming the former Mini Golf Course into a Halloween wonderland where each Strategic Business Unit (SBU) can showcase their terrifying creativity and flair for all to enjoy.”

She added that the shacks will be unveiled on 24 October and are open for public viewing until 31 October, citing that the winning team will take home P50,000. Camba urged all employees of the SBMA to take part and show off their creativity in celebrating Halloween and spur tourism activities in the area.

Halloween traditions in Subic date back to when the area was a US naval base, with the tradition of trick-or-treating being a long-standing practice in the residential areas.

While trick-or-treating was temporarily halted due to the pandemic, recent years have seen its return, along with new collaborative events like the annual Subic Bay Hauntfest. The Hauntfest features a variety of activities, from costume competitions to live music and local food.
