Six right-of-way (RoW) issues were cleared by the Department of Transportation (DoTr) in an area spanning Calumpit, Bulacan to Clark, Pampanga, and expediting the completion of the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR) System.
RoW issues have plagued the development of the NSCR, with dealings in land acquisition becoming bottlenecks that hinder the current administration’s thrust to provide efficient and reliable transport infrastructure.
The six RoW properties cleared are situated in Clark International Airport, SM Clark, Barangay Pulungbulo in Angeles, Pampanga, Barangay Sto. Niño in San Fernando, Barangay San Vicente in Apalit and Barangay Iba Este in Calumpit.
Much-needed assistance
Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez expressed his gratitude to the local government units who provided much needed assistance in the RoW issues after President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed the DoTr to streamline land acquisition process for big-ticket transport projects to expedite construction of critical infrastructure aimed at easing the plight of commuters.
“We extend our gratitude to the local government units in these critical areas where we will construct the NSCR, particularly those in Angeles City, Mabalacat City, City of San Fernando, Apalit, Minalin, Sto. Tomas, Calumpit, Malolos, and the provinces of Pampanga and Bulacan, for their invaluable support and cooperation in making this project possible,” Lopez said.
