Ice Seguerra turns vulnerability into strength

After a decade of soul-searching and self-healing, Original Pilipino Music (OPM) icon Ice Seguerra is finally stepping into the light with his most personal musical offering yet.

Titled Being Ice, the all-original album drops this Friday, 8 August, marking a bold new chapter in Ice’s storied career — not just as a performer, but as a fearless songwriter.

“It took me a while,” Ice reflected. “For the longest time, I wasn’t brave enough to share what I truly felt. I was afraid to fail. I was afraid of what would happen to my family if I failed.”

That fear, once a barrier, has now become the beating heart of Being Ice — an eight-track confessional drawn from a decade of life’s highs and heartbreaks: grief, love, identity and growth. It is also the first album under Fire and Ice Music, in partnership with Star Music PH.

The release ends a 10-year wait since his last full-length project, Araw Gabi with Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. But for Ice, the wait was necessary.

“I had to mature. It took me 10 years — or maybe more — to really accept that if things don’t go my way, it’s okay. I can always move forward.”

Each track on Being Ice carries a distinct emotional weight:

• “Anino” serves as a heartfelt love letter to his loyal fans.

• “Ikaw Lang” captures the ache of a long-distance relationship.

• “Lost in Time” tells the story of a love that stayed hidden.

• “Ikaw Pala ‘Yon” reads like a wedding vow, intimate and hopeful.

• “Natapos Ang Lahat” closes a chapter with bittersweet finality.

The album also includes recent singles such as “Shelter of the Broken,” “Wag Na Lang Pala,” and “Nandiyan Ka,” further cementing Ice’s evolution into a songwriter with unflinching emotional honesty.

More than a comeback, Being Ice is a declaration of identity, artistry and courage. It is Ice at his most raw, most real — and finally, most free.
