Death toll from habagat, tropical cyclones reaches 38

The reported death toll from the recent southwest monsoon (habagat) and tropical cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong has climbed to 38, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Sunday.

Of the total, three fatalities have been confirmed — one each from the Ilocos Region, Northern Mindanao, and CARAGA — while 35 remain under validation.

The NDRRMC also recorded 33 injuries, with 24 confirmed and nine still subject to verification. Most of the injuries, totaling 20, were reported from the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Eight individuals have been reported missing, four of whom have been confirmed, with the rest still being verified.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,365,343 families or 8,592,630 individuals were affected by the recent weather disturbances.

Of this number, 24,771 families sought shelter in 838 evacuation centers, while 32,320 families received assistance outside of evacuation centers.

The NDRRMC also reported agricultural losses amounting to P3.28 billion. The region with the highest reported losses was Central Luzon with P1.827 billion in damage, followed by MIMAROPA with P405.6 million, CALABARZON with P380.9 million, and Western Visayas with P156.9 million.
