The local government of Quezon City has officially unveiled an Olympic-sized swimming pool and other upgraded facilities at the Amoranto Sports Complex.
The new additions include a three-lane swimming pool, administrative offices, an elevator, a lifeguard station, and bleachers with a 480-seat capacity, according to the Quezon City Government’s Facebook page.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, in a separate social media post, confirmed that the complex now also features locker rooms, a dug-out, shower areas, and a warm-up pool. Three lifeguards have been deployed to ensure the safety of pool users.
The pool is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for individuals and groups. The entrance fee is P100 per person or P1,500 for a group of up to 15 people.
For groups exceeding 15, an additional P100 per person will be charged, with a maximum of 20 people per group. Quezon City student residents will receive a 20 percent discount.
The opening aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call during his State of the Nation Address for a nationwide shift to healthier, more active lifestyles through accessible community-based fitness initiatives.
Marcos also announced that the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) would open its facilities to the public for free.
“Starting today, the Philippine Sports Commission will open its track and field ovals in Pasig, Manila, and Baguio to the public for free jogging,” Marcos said. Among the PSC facilities now accessible to the public is the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex’s track and field oval in Malate, Manila.
