Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered the dismissal of two Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) enforcers caught extorting money from a truck driver.

The two were presented to the media around noon Friday after a cellphone video of the extortion incident along Lacson Avenue went viral on social media.

Moreno said the local government has no place for corrupt traffic constables and warned the remaining 800 MTPB enforcers to think twice before engaging in illegal activity.

“If you engage in extortion, I won’t hesitate to remove you,” he said.

Meanwhile, three individuals were arrested after they were caught illegally dumping garbage along Mel Lopez Boulevard in Tondo, Manila.

According to the Raxabago Police Station, the suspects were apprehended by members of the city’s environmental rangers while unloading trash from their vehicle.

The suspects did not resist arrest when confronted by authorities.

They claimed they had no idea the vehicle contained garbage, saying they were merely following orders.

The three will face charges for allegedly violating Republic Act 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.

“The simulation exercises reflect our commitment in providing swift and responsive public service while ensuring public safety and readiness for a secure and orderly SoNA 2025,” Silvio said.
