As the Goldenberg Concert Series returned with a heart-warming display of Filipino musical prowess on Friday, the halls of the legendary Goldenberg Mansion pulsed with splendor and symphony.
This latest installment, presented by the Office of the Social Secretary, spotlighted the Philippine PhilHarmonic Orchestra Woodwind Quintet featuring Frenvee Clarito Andr, John Peter Bautista, Rosemarie Poblete, Ernani Pascual and Ariel Sta. Ana.
First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos was among the captivated audience, visibly moved by the performances.
The afternoon unfolded like a symphonic love letter to both classical mastery and Filipino musical heritage.
From the sultry sway of Olé Guapa to the nostalgic charm of Philippine Airs Medley 3, the repertoire danced between tango, jazz, and heartfelt OPM, culminating in timeless renditions of Over the Rainbow, You’ve Got a Friend in Me, and All of Me.
Powerful collaboration
Each artist brought a distinct voice to the ensemble.
Frenvee Clarito Andra, bassoonist and musical director, is a decorated performer with international accolades, including the Asahi Music Competition in Tokyo. His dual role as educator and principal bassoonist of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra reflects a career rooted in both excellence and mentorship.
John Peter Bautista, the youngest member of the PPO, blends youthful energy with refined technique. A product of Nueva Ecija’s Family Band 74 and UST’s Oboe Performance Program, his journey includes representing the Philippines in the ASEAN-Russia Youth Orchestra.
Rosemarie Poblete, flutist and Philbanda Secretary, began her musical path in Carmona and has since become a beacon of chamber music and advocacy. Her performances span international festivals and local recitals, always with a signature grace.
Ernani Pascual, a renowned French horn virtuoso, has performed on stages ranging from Rizal to Carnegie Hall. His resume includes Phantom of the Opera’s Manila run and multiple NAMCYA wins, all while serving as Assistant Principal Horn of the PPO.
Ariel Sta. Ana, clarinetist and conductor, is a master of both solo and ensemble artistry. With degrees from Hiroshima and a career that bridges Opusfest, CCP, and international festivals, Ariel continues to elevate Filipino chamber music through the Clarion Chamber Ensemble.
Together, these artists transformed the Goldenberg Mansion into a sanctuary of sound, where heritage met harmony, and every note told a story.
