For seasoned broadcaster Bernadette Sembrano Aguinaldo, Switzerland was everything she imagined and more—breathtaking alpine views, crisp mountain air, and a dreamy tour through Crash Landing On You filming locations. But her recent European escape also came with an unexpected twist that turned into a teachable moment.
In a new vlog post, the TV Patrol anchor revealed that she and her husband were pickpocketed during a train ride in what many consider one of the safest countries in the world.
“We got pickpocketed in Switzerland,” Bernadette candidly shared. “We were on a first-class train coach when a man boarded during a quick stopover. He seemed like any other passenger, but when we arrived at our destination and started unloading our luggage, we didn’t notice he had already slipped out… along with Asawa’s backpack.”
The realization only came after the train had pulled away—leaving them stunned but reflective.
“I’m sharing this on the vlog not just to tell the story,” she said, “but to remind fellow travelers to stay alert. Even in the most beautiful places, things like this can happen.”
Switzerland, often romanticized for its postcard-perfect views and impeccable order, proved that no place is entirely immune to petty crimes—even first-class cabins aren’t foolproof. Bernadette’s honest retelling is a gentle but timely reminder that safety should always be top of mind, especially for Filipinos traveling abroad.
Despite the incident, Bernadette chose to focus on the highlights of their journey. “Switzerland was breathtaking!” she exclaimed. “We visited Crash Landing On You filming spots in Interlaken, and Zermatt looked like it was straight out of a dream.”
True to her calm and composed nature, the veteran journalist took the incident in stride—choosing gratitude over frustration. While a backpack was lost, memories were still made, and lessons were gained.
From the snowy peaks of Zermatt to the cinematic beauty of Interlaken, Bernadette’s Swiss adventure had all the makings of a travel story worth sharing—not just for its charm, but for the caution it carries.
Her parting message to her viewers was clear: “Stay vigilant, wherever you are. Beauty and danger can sometimes share the same space.”
