The Queen of Philippine Pop Culture, Jolina Magdangal, is ready to conquer a new stage — this time, quite literally — as she makes her much-anticipated theater debut in the Philippine Educational Theater Association’s (PETA) hit musical Walang Aray.

Jolina will step into the role of the eccentric and flamboyant Doña Juana, mother to the play’s female lead, Julia. Known for her vibrant personality and unmistakable flair, the beloved actress and singer promises to bring her signature charm to the stage, adding a new layer of comedy and heart to an already dynamic role.

Magdangal was present during the show’s preview performance and press conference held at the PETA Theater Center, where her arrival generated palpable excitement from both media and theatergoers. Her entry into the world of theater marks a major milestone in her decades-long career as a pop culture trailblazer.

PETA is reviving Walang Aray — Rody Vera’s sharp and hilarious reinterpretation of Severino Reyes’ classic zarzuela Walang Sugat — for a limited run from 29 August to 12 October 2025. The production opens the theater company’s 58th season, aptly themed “Love and Power.”

Directed by Ian Segarra, now joined by associate director Norbs Portales, this updated staging boasts tighter scenes, contemporary references, and a new original song by Gawad Buhay award-winning composer Vince Lim. The story of love, resistance, and rebellion remains intact, but this version injects fresh energy and relevance for today’s audiences.

Magdangal joins a mix of returning and new cast members, including Gio Gahol, Jon Abella, Shaira Opsimar, Marynor Madamesila, and Ice Seguerra, who alternates in the role of Lucas. Sharing the role of Doña Juana with Jolina are Neomi Gonzales and Gold Villar-Lim.

From bubblegum pop to the theatrical spotlight, Jolina continues to evolve — and Walang Aray is the latest chapter in her legacy as a cultural icon. With her debut, she brings a new sparkle to Philippine theater, proving once again that whether on screen, on stage, or behind a mic, Jolina Magdangal always knows how to steal the show.
