The Philippine Navy (PN) has intensified its humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) efforts, deploying personnel, assets, and reserve forces across flood-stricken areas nationwide.
Navy spokesperson Captain John Percie Alcos said the Naval Task Group–National Capital Region (NTG-NCR) has led rapid response and rescue missions since 21 July, evacuating 45 stranded residents from floodwaters along España Boulevard in Manila to Quezon City Hall.
In coordination with local responders, the 27th Naval Affiliated Reserve Group carried out search, rescue, and retrieval operations in San Juan City.
Meanwhile, in Cavite, the Naval Installation and Facilities-Cavite and Naval Task Force 83 rescued 80 individuals trapped in flood-prone communities in Noveleta and Imus.
In Northern Luzon, the Joint Task Force Karagatan – composed of Philippine Marine Corps units, the 501st Brigade (Philippine Army), Naval Intelligence Forces, and the 702nd Brigade – provided manpower support to government agencies for the repacking and distribution of aid.
On 22 July, the Combat Engineering Brigade of the PMC extended operations to Subic, Zambales, aiding residents affected by flash floods.
The Disaster Relief and Rescue Team also rescued five individuals in Burgos, Ilocos Norte.
Alcos also highlighted the Navy reservist force’s vital role in the military’s disaster responses.
The 121st Naval Squadron Reserve, in coordination with local government units in Aguilar, Pangasinan, helped distribute relief goods to over 100 families on 23 July.
At the same time, NTG-NCR, the Naval Defense Command, Civil-Military Operations Unit-NCR (CMOU-NCR), and other PN units, alongside stakeholders, delivered food packs to over 140 displaced families in various sitios of Brgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
Between 22 and 23 July, NTG-NCR teams deployed to Valenzuela City helped haul 500 sacks of rice and repack 1,250 relief goods for flood victims.
On July 24, CMOU-NCR joined the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and other partners at the National Resource Operations Center in Pasay City to assist in repacking more relief supplies.
Most recently, on 25 July, PN teams — supported by one KM450 vehicle and personnel from Naval Installation and Facilities-NCR, PMC, and CMOU-NCR — partnered with the GMA Kapuso Foundation to pack 3,000 relief bags at the GMA Compound in Quezon City.
Clearing operations in Northern Luzon are also underway, as the Navy continues to respond to the evolving needs of affected communities.
“The Philippine Navy remains fully committed to protecting and assisting our kababayans in times of crisis,” said Alcos.
“Our forces will continue to stand by and serve wherever our help is needed most.”
As weather disturbances continue to affect the country, the Navy underscores its readiness to act swiftly and decisively in delivering life-saving support to communities in need.
