The combined impact of Tropical Cyclones Crising, Dante, and Emong, along with the Southwest Monsoon, has caused P3.75 billion in damage to public infrastructure.
Report from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as of Wednesday noon showed that the damage (still subject to field validation) covers P483.69 million in damage to national roads, P24.48 million to national bridges, and P3.25 billion to flood control structures in the Ilocos Region, Region III, Region IV-B, Region VI, and the Negros Island Region.
While DPWH Quick Response Teams have cleared and reopened 35 national road sections, five remain impassable due to soil collapse and flooding.
These include parts of Kennon Road in Camp 6, Tuba, Benguet; several stretches of the Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan-Lingayen Road in Dagupan City; a portion of the Paniqui-Camiling-Wawa Road in Camiling, Tarlac; and the Bugaan Detour along the Talisay-Laurel-Agoncillo Road in Laurel, Batangas.
Meanwhile, 27 national road sections across the Cordillera Administrative Region, National Capital Region, Regions I, III, IV-A, V, and IX are accessible only to limited types of vehicles.
These limitations are due to flooding, road cuts, slips, precautionary closures, collapsed slope protection, and washed-out detours. Affected areas include Apayao, Dagupan City, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, Zambales, Batangas, Cavite, Rizal, Albay, and Zamboanga del Norte.
All other national roads and bridges in the affected regions remain passable to all types of vehicles, the DPWH added.
