A burning rider on his likewise flaming motorbike rode for nearly half a kilometer before the fire was put out in Côte d’Or, France in May.
The rider, Jonathan Vero, was unharmed in the death-defying stunt that recently earned him a Guinness World Record (GWR) for the farthest distance full body burn while riding a motorcycle.
The 41-year-old firefighter and stuntman used a special outfit for protection and a Yamaha DragStar 1100 modified for the purpose.
The world record was the third for the Frenchman. On 10 September 2022, Vero ran while aflame to set a GWR of 17 seconds for the fastest full body burn 100-meter sprint without oxygen. The fiery stunt was also a GWR for the longest distance full body burn run without oxygen at 272.25 meters.
Vero, however, suffered burns in the earlier stunt and took weeks to recover, according to GWR.
Fire actually forces people to instinctively run fast due to the unbearable heat and to save themselves from being burned. That’s how the nursing staff at an assisted living facility in Massachusetts, USA reacted when it caught fire on 13 July.
The families of the residents of Gabriel House in Fall River were not happy with the staff’s negligent behavior.
Survivors of the disaster that claimed nine lives accused the nurses of leaving the elderly residents to fend for themselves, Fox News reports.
“They left us alone and ran,” Gabriel House resident Lorraine Ferrara, 70, told the Associated Press (AP). “I was hanging out the window — ‘Help! Help!’—and they just kept running.”
“They didn’t knock on one door. They just ran,” another resident, Robert Cabral, said, according to AP.
About 50 firefighters eventually put out the fire and rescued the residents.
