To assure the health of evacuees in evacuation centers in Marikina, the Department of Health (DOH) distributed on Tuesday free Doxycycline medicines.
Doxycycline is a prophylaxis for water-borne diseases, especially leptospirosis.
Aside from Doxycycline, the Health department also distributed diabetes maintenance, hypertension maintenance, vitamins, and cough medicines to local government units affected by the rain and flooding.
There are 604 families or 3,880 persons being sheltered at the H. Bautista Elementary School, while 502 families or 2,407 individuals are staying in Nangka Elementary School.
Marikina River reached the critical third alarm with 18.3 meters on Monday evening.
At third alarm, "forced evacuation" is implemented as the water reaches 18 meters.
