Authorities are continuing their search for two boys believed to have drowned after being swept away by a strong current in a river in Morong, Rizal on Saturday afternoon.
The missing minors were identified as a 12-year-old and a 10-year-old; both residents of Mabuhay Homes Darangan, Binangonan.
According to a report from the Morong Municipal Police Station, the victims were last seen near a bridge, accompanied by a 10-year-old witness who reportedly saw them being swept away by the river’s current.
The witness, however, told police he was fearful and did not immediately inform his parents or authorities. He reported the incident around 5:30 a.m. Sunday.
The Morong Municipal Police Station has coordinated with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, as well as BPSO personnel and volunteer responders, to launch search and retrieval operations.
A thorough investigation into the incident is underway.
