City Savings Bank, Inc. (CitySavings) is stepping up efforts to support Filipino educators by partnering with two key education institutions to deliver large-scale professional development programs that focus on literacy, numeracy, and 21st-century teaching strategies.
In collaboration with the Knowledge Channel Foundation Inc., CitySavings launched the “WATCH. LEARN. TEACH.” program, a free online training series held on 23 and 30 May 2025. The sessions reached more than 15,000 teachers across the country and offered practical strategies to improve literacy and numeracy instruction in classrooms.
Centered on strengthening foundational learning, the program provided educators with easy-to-apply methods aimed at improving student outcomes nationwide.
In a separate initiative, CitySavings teamed up with the Cebu International School (CIS) to hold an Education Forum attended by over 150 public and private school teachers from Cebu and nearby provinces. The event was held at the CIS campus in Pit-os, Cebu City on 25 April 2025.
The forum tackled research-based best practices in education, including adaptable leadership approaches and the use of artificial intelligence in modern teaching. Workshops led by CIS faculty and its education partners equipped teachers with tools for classroom management and designing effective programs across different grade levels.
Violly Chyril Bugtong, a participant from Oprra National High School in Cebu City, said the event allowed educators to share new ideas and innovative techniques. “The opportunity to connect and collaborate with passionate educators,” she said, helped equip them with strategies “to enhance student learning experiences.”
“These collaborations with the Knowledge Channel and Cebu International School (CIS) demonstrate City Savings Bank’s strategic approach to community development, recognizing that investing in educator capacity building creates lasting impact across the education sector,” said CitySavings President and Chief Executive Officer Manuel G. Santiago Jr. “CitySavings will continue to empower educators with tools and knowledge to support transformative learning experiences across the country,” he added.
