More than half of Filipinos are satisfied with the performance of the Philippine Senate, with its approval rating climbing to 53 percent in June, according to the latest nationwide survey by Pulse Asia.
This marks an 8-percentage point increase from 45 percent in March.
The survey also indicated a decrease in public indecision regarding the Senate's performance, dropping to 28 percent from 34 percent. Disapproval ratings also saw a decline, from 21 percent to 18 percent over the same period.
The rise in approval was consistent across all major regions -- the National Capital Region reported 64 percent approval, Visayas 64 percent and Mindanao 52 percent.
Across socioeconomic classes, approval ratings also improved. Class ABC saw an increase from 37 percent to 46 percent, Class D from 45 percent to 55 percent and Class E from 46 percent to 54 percent.
The improved ratings coincide with a significant increase in the Senate's productivity during the 19th Congress. Under Senate President Francis Escudero, the Third Regular Session saw the passage of 216 laws, nearly triple the 73 laws passed in the First and Second Regular Sessions combined.
The Senate also forwarded 96 measures for the President's approval in the Third Session, a substantial increase from the 23 measures produced in the first two sessions. Additionally, measures approved on third reading jumped from 14 in the first two sessions to 42 in the last session of the 19th Congress, which concluded on 11 June 2025.
The Senate is now preparing for the opening of the 20th Congress, scheduled for 28 July 2025.
