Students and teachers in two remote barangays in Zamboanga del Norte now have access to the internet, thanks to a satellite-powered connection delivered under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s school connectivity initiative.

The beneficiaries are from Seroan Integrated School in Barangay Seroan, municipality of Katipunan, and Marupay National High School in Barangay Marupay, municipality of President Manuel A. Roxas.

“Thank you so much, President Bongbong Marcos, for your gift to us — a smart classroom interactive board and satellite internet connection! Yehey!” said teachers and students of Seroan Integrated School in a video message to the Chief Executive.

Teachers and students from Marupay National High School also sent a video expressing their gratitude to the President.

Government representatives and technicians delivered and installed satellite internet units powered by Starlink, as well as a Huawei Idea Hub interactive board, at both schools last Friday.

In a separate video message, Seroan Integrated School head teacher Jessan Macam said the satellite-powered internet would help teachers submit reports promptly and access official issuances from the division office.

“We are truly grateful — our teachers and our community. We will be able to use this whenever we need an internet connection,” Macam said.

During the installation of the Huawei Idea Hub at Marupay National High School, teachers were also given a brief training on how to operate the smart board.

President Marcos earlier said his administration aims to have all schools nationwide connected to the internet by the end of 2025.
