State weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday that they are monitoring a cloud cluster east of Mindanao due to its possibility of strengthening into a low pressure area.
“This cloud cluster is east of Mindanao, we are monitoring it due to its possibility of developing into a low pressure area in the upcoming days,” PAGASA Weather Specialist Obet Badrina said.
Once it strengthens into a tropical cyclone, it would be given the local name “Crising.”
The southwest monsoon is expected to continue bringing isolated rains over the provinces of Bataan, Zambales, Cavite, and Batangas.
Cloudy skies with the possibility of rains are also possible in the MIMAROPA region, Western Visayas including Negros Island, the Zamboanga Peninsula, and the Bangsamoro region.
The effects of the southwest monsoon are expected to strengthen by Thursday or Friday.
Remaining parts of the country are forecast to experience fair weather with possible occurrences of thunderstorms.
"By around Thursday or Friday, the southwest monsoon is expected to strengthen again, which could once more affect a large portion of the country, especially the western sections of Luzon and the Visayas,” Badrina added.
Outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, the weather bureau is monitoring a tropical storm.
The tropical storm named “Nari” was last located by PAGASA around 3 AM at 2,165 kilometers east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.
It has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour, and wind gusts up to 80 kilometers per hour.
Nari is not expected to directly affect any parts of the country as it is moving in an east northeast direction towards Japan.
Moderate sea conditions with waves of 1.5 to 1.8 meters are expected over the waters of Extreme Northern Luzon, while light to moderate seas are expected in the rest of the country’s open waters.
