The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced Friday it has preventively suspended the driver’s license of a popular vlogger after a viral video showed her engaging in unsafe driving practices.

LTO Acting Assistant Secretary and chief Greg G. Pua Jr. stated that the driving behavior depicted in the video, featuring vlogger “Cherry White,” could lead to serious road accidents.

“The information we received was that this personality has a strong following on social media, and the video showing her unsafe driving practice is dangerous since it could be misinterpreted that it is okay to do that,” Pua said.

The LTO has issued a show-cause order to the vlogger, requiring her to explain why she should not be held liable for being an “Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle” under Section 27 (a) of Republic Act 4136, in addition to reckless driving.

The video reportedly shows the vlogger seated in a casual, lounging posture with one leg raised onto the driver’s seat, appearing disengaged from proper vehicle operation.

“Due to the gravity of the act, the Driver’s License No. D19-14-004834 issued to a.k.a ‘Cherry White’ is hereby preventively suspended for a period of 90 days,” the show-cause order stated. She has been directed to surrender her driver’s license before a scheduled hearing at the LTO Central Office.

Pua added that the vehicle involved in the viral video has also been placed under alarm as the investigation continues.

Meantime, the LTO’s new online driver’s license renewal system recorded 10,000 visitors within its first hour of public availability Thursday via the eGovPH app.

The online platform, part of the Department of Transportation (DoTr)’s efforts under Secretary Vince Dizon and in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s vision for digital government transactions, aims to streamline services.

Pua highlighted the strong initial engagement as proof of a significant shift in government service delivery.

“We are doing everything to make all the LTO transactions fast and comfortable to millions of our clients,” Pua said.

“Gone are the days that our clients would absent or take a leave of absence for their LTO transactions because they can now do so at the comfort of their homes, in their offices and even in any part of the country,” he added.

He cited the benefit for both local employees and overseas Filipino workers.

To access the digital service, LTO clients must download and install the eGovPH app on their smartphones, available on both the App Store and Google Play.

The app includes security verification features developed in coordination with the Department of Information and Communications Technology, led by Secretary Henry Aguda.

Once installed, the app provides instructions for the renewal process, including options for courier delivery of the renewed license.
