BDO Foundation continues to boost grassroots healthcare by rehabilitating primary care facilities in Antique and Cebu provinces, helping improve access to basic medical services for thousands of Filipinos.
The foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank, recently completed renovations for four facilities in Antique: Belison Primary Care Facility, San Jose de Buenavista Primary Care Facility, Sibalom Primary Care Facility, and Tobias Fornier Primary Care Facility. In Cebu, the Daanbantayan Primary Care Facility became the latest to benefit, serving over 33,000 residents from seven barangays and nearby areas.
“BDO Foundation prioritizes this mission because we believe in the importance of basic healthcare and its irreplaceable function in a community,” said BDO Foundation president Mario Deriquito.
The foundation’s rural health unit rehabilitation program, supported by BDO and BDO Network Bank branches, aims to assist public health workers and local government units by providing improved, patient-friendly facilities. Branch officers are encouraged to recommend health centers that need support, especially those in their home communities.
“We have branch employees who grew up visiting these health centers, and they are always eager to find ways to support their own community,” Deriquito added.
Each facility received enhancements tailored to community needs. The Belison PCF now includes a private breastfeeding area, while the Tobias Fornier PCF added a space dedicated to elderly patients. In Cebu, the Daanbantayan center was upgraded to feature similar improvements, including a play area for children.
Before this, BDO Foundation also rehabilitated the Tuburan Rural Health Unit-I, which serves over 68,000 individuals in 54 barangays. These efforts reflect the foundation’s commitment to making health care more accessible, especially in underserved areas.
BDO Foundation said it plans to continue expanding the program to strengthen the national health delivery system at the grassroots level.
