The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that more than P60 billion worth of illegal drugs have been seized since President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. started his term in July 2022.
In a Palace briefing on Thursday, spokesperson Undersecretary Claire Castro relayed that from July 2022 to May 2025, PDEA has confiscated a total of P62.17 billion worth of illegal drugs in its 110,563 anti-illegal drug operations nationwide.
Further, a total of 149,020 drug personalities were arrested, including 9,506 high-value targets.
“From 1 July 2022 to 31 May 2025, a total of 4,027 barangays were declared cleared for illegal drugs under the Barangay Drug Clearing Program,” she said.
Furthermore, Castro disclosed, quoting the PDEA report, that a total of 141,827 cases were filed against drug suspects, 53,939 of which were resolved and 47,438 were convicted, following the directives of President Marcos Jr. to revitalize and improve the drug demand reduction activities in the country.
Moreover, Castro said 9,713 drug offenders completed the reformation process, while 2,761 were provided jobs.
“A total of 607 Balay Silangan Reformation Centers were built under the Marcos administration,” she said.
Marcos Jr. earlier ordered Philippine National Police chief P/Gen. Nicanor Torre III to increase police visibility on the streets to ensure public safety and a quick response in case of crimes so Filipinos will feel that the police force is there as their defenders at all times.
Also, he ordered Torre to continue the campaign against illegal drugs, together with the PDEA, through raids and drug seizures, as well as filing complaints against big-time drug dealers and peddlers.
