The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has once again received an unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit (CoA), marking the second consecutive year the poll body has achieved the highest audit rating.
An unqualified opinion signifies that CoA auditors have concluded the financial statements were prepared, in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework.
Comelec chairperson George Garcia called the achievement a “historic first” for the commission.
“The Comelec had an unqualified opinion. CoA found no problems, defects, or excesses in our submission of accounting documents,” Garcia said.
He added that the CoA report proves the poll body is “transparent and properly accountable.”
The Comelec first received an unqualified opinion from CoA last year.
