Several cats under the care of residents at a condominium in Pasig City have mysteriously disappeared, sparking concern among pet-loving residents and animal welfare advocates.
In a statement, residents said the missing cats were part of a responsibly maintained community group — spayed, neutered, and cared for by volunteers who formed a tight-knit animal welfare effort within the urban setting.
The group, known as Cats of Satori, raised the alarm in a recent Facebook post, saying several of their community cats had gone missing twice this year — first in January, and again in June 2025.
“We don’t know where they are. We don’t know why. But we know this: THEY MATTER,” the group wrote, expressing deep concern over the unexplained disappearances.
The volunteers have long provided food, shelter, and veterinary care to the cats, emphasizing humane and responsible population control through spaying and neutering. Their program, they say, created a compassionate space for animals often overlooked in city life.
"The plea of condominium owners in Pasig City about their missing cats should not fall on deaf ears," said Senator Grace Poe, echoing public sentiment.
“Before us are families who have created a responsible and compassionate pet-caring community in the middle of the urban jungle,” she said, adding that the group deserves an explanation from the property management.
Poe urged barangay officials to help locate the missing animals and investigate those potentially responsible. She emphasized that animal welfare is a shared responsibility and called for compassion in managing communities.
As of this writing, the condominium's property management has yet to release a public statement on the matter.
