A suspect involved in a “basag kotse” incident was arrested Friday night in Antipolo City after allegedly smashing a car window and stealing valuables, the police said Saturday.

According to the initial investigation, a 26-year-old female architect, her boyfriend, and friends were waiting outside Lumang Bayan Executive Village along Marcos Highway in Barangay Mambugan when they saw the suspect break the left passenger window of a parked Honda Civic.

The vehicle is owned by the boyfriend’s father.

The suspect took the complainant’s bag and fled aboard a motorcycle driven by an accomplice heading toward the Masinag intersection.

The complainant and her boyfriend attempted to pursue the suspects but were unsuccessful. They then flagged down two patrolling police officers from the Antipolo station and requested assistance.

Police were able to arrest one of the suspects and recover the stolen items, which included a laptop, mobile phone, apartment keys, and a water tumbler.

The driver of the motorcycle remains at large.

Authorities are preparing the necessary documents to file criminal complaints against the arrested suspect.
