Accor, Megaworld to open Mercure Mactan Cebu in Q4 2025

Global hospitality group Accor is set to open Mercure Mactan Cebu in the fourth quarter of 2025 through a new partnership with Megaworld Corporation, the country’s largest township developer and operator of homegrown hotel brands.

The hotel will rise within Megaworld’s 30-hectare Mactan Newtown township in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. The mixed-use estate includes a beachfront, residential towers, retail outlets, office buildings, and the upcoming Mactan Expo — an emerging hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).

The new property will add 550 keys to Accor’s growing Asia portfolio and further strengthen its presence in the Philippines. Mercure Mactan Cebu will offer guests immersive Filipino-inspired experiences through its interiors, cuisine, and services. The hotel will also feature an all-day dining restaurant, bars, a swimming pool, fitness center, business lounge, and indoor and outdoor event venues.

“We are accelerating the growth of our Premium, Midscale & Economy Division with a focused strategy to expand in sought-after destinations across Asia,” said Andrew Langdon, Accor’s Chief Development Officer for Asia. “The Philippines remains a vital market for us, and this signing is aligned with our ambition to meet growing demand from leisure and business travelers.”

Langdon added that the rise of “bleisure” travel and Cebu’s strategic location — especially with Mactan-Cebu International Airport as a key gateway — make the region a top choice for expansion.

Cleofe Albiso, Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, said the partnership combines Accor’s global hospitality leadership with Megaworld’s local expertise.

“Mercure Mactan Cebu will not only enhance Mactan Newtown as a destination of choice but also stimulate local tourism and the economy,” Albiso said. “We are excited to help redefine Cebu’s tourism landscape.”

Accor currently operates nine hotels across the Philippines under eight different brands, with over 2,300 rooms. The group has 18 more hotels in its pipeline — amounting to more than 4,000 additional rooms — in the coming years.
