President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Monday announced the elevation of Alert Level 3 for Filipinos in areas affected by the intensifying Iran-Israel conflict and ordered the immediate repatriation of those who wish to return home.
In a recorded public address, Marcos instructed all concerned government agencies to ensure the safe, timely, and orderly return of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) amid rising tensions in the Middle East.
"I have directed all concerned government agencies to take the necessary steps to ensure the safe, timely, and orderly return of our Filipino workers who wish to avail of the voluntary repatriation program," he said.
He noted that Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac has arrived in Amman, Jordan, and will receive the first batch of 26 repatriates from Israel at the King Hussein Crossing.
"In Israel, we have already provided food packs and financial help to our kababayans," he added.
"Many are staying in our migrant workers' office hostel with more space ready should it be needed."
The President said the government is currently processing over 200 repatriation requests, while others have opted to remain at work.
"We are moving quickly to bring them home while others have opted to remain at work," he said.
Marcos also gave an update on a hospitalized Filipino caregiver in Israel, who remains stable but on oxygen support and a ventilator.
"We continue to monitor our OFW caregiver who remains in hospital — stable but still on oxygen support and a ventilator. We are in touch with her family and are making sure she gets the care that she needs," he added.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Iran is preparing to repatriate an initial group of eight Filipinos in the coming days.
Upon arrival in the Philippines, repatriates will receive P150,000 in immediate assistance, as well as transportation, accommodations, and livelihood support, including training vouchers.
Those choosing to stay home permanently will be offered skills training, job matching, and startup capital for small businesses or new employment opportunities.
"I urge our fellow Filipinos to coordinate with our embassies in Tel Aviv and in Tehran. Please follow their guidance, inform them of your situation, and do not hesitate to ask for assistance," Marcos said.
"Your government continues to act and is ready to serve to protect your safety and well-being. Nothing is more important than the safety of every Filipino," he added.
