Pasig approves Nagpayong Civic Complex plan, mini-hospital and school to rise

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto on Tuesday confirmed the approval of the site development plan for the Nagpayong Civic Complex, to be built on a 2.6-hectare property owned by the local government.

"We're taking a little longer here due to some issues, especially on the land and right of way. There was even a syndicate who have caused trouble and was collecting fees for the membership and rights," Sotto said.

Among the key infrastructure set to rise within the complex is the Nagpayong Primary Care Center, a 16-bed infirmary designed to function like a mini-hospital.

“It already has a construction permit and feedback from the Department of Health,” Sotto noted, adding that the city engineering office has completed soil testing at the site.

The complex will also house a 12-storey public school building, which already has an allocated budget from the national government. A second school building is also in the pipeline but will follow the completion of the first two structures.

"The local government also plans to construct another school building, but we will finish first these two buildings," Sotto said.

"We will also try to start constructing other buildings within this term. But just these for now and a police substation," he added.

The site development plan includes a wide range of public service infrastructure: a Department of Education (DepEd) school compound with up to four buildings, a healthcare facility, a police substation, fire substation, multi-purpose hall, public park and evacuation area, and a City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) compound, including a Bahay Kanlungan extension.
