A more environmentally friendly office complex of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in New Clark City, Tarlac has moved a step closer to construction with the completion of the project's detailed architectural and engineering design.

In a statement released Saturday, BSP said project consultant Aidea, Inc. had finalized the design, marking “a key preparatory step prior to the procurement of the general contractor.”

BSP added that it aims to complete the financing agreement for the new complex within the year.

The new BSP complex will be built on over 300,000 square meters of land and will house facilities for currency printing, minting and refining, cash operations, and the production of National IDs.

"From a formidable gray building in Quezon City, the BSP’s proposed complex in Central Luzon will feature expansive greenery and natural working spaces," the central bank said.

"The structures will adhere to Green Building principles in utilizing power, water, and other resources, the use of renewable energy and non-toxic materials, waste and pollution reduction systems," the central bank added.

Additional facilities in the new complex will include a data center, a "cutting-edge" research academy, and sports and wellness amenities for BSP employees.

Meanwhile, BSP said Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has committed to present the full feasibility study of a railway line connecting Clark International Airport to the BSP complex by August.

“A state-of-the-art facility will rise in New Clark City in the coming years. This is a testament to the administration’s vision of developing a modern, sustainable, resilient, and inclusive metropolis while decongesting Metro Manila,” Dizon said.

To support a healthy work-life balance for BSP employees relocating outside Metro Manila, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president Joshua Bingcang said a South Korean firm has approved a contract to construct housing facilities in New Clark City.

In January 2021, BSP and BCDA signed a lease contract for a parcel of land at the National Government Administrative Center in New Clark City, where the new BSP complex will be constructed.
