Chavit backs 11-year-old Palaro medalist

NARVACAN, Ilocos Sur — For bringing honor and pride to the Ilocanos in the North, former governor and business magnate Luis “Chavit” Singson gave financial and moral support to Carlitos Joe “Tolits” C. Corrales, an 11 year old who won back to back gold medal and one of the youngest badminton players of Palarong Pambansa.

A homegrown badminton prodigy of Barangay Codoog, Narvacan, and student from Narvacan Catholic school, Corrales paid a visit to Manong Chavit Friday inside his Sulvec world class resort here.

Son of Randall Claro Corrales and Charmaine Joy Canaria Corrales, Tolits was accompanied by Atty. Miguel Noel A. San Andres, a senior legal officer of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation who arranged the courtesy call of the young Ilocano sports hero to Chavit.

With his hard work and achievements in sports, Manong Chavit gave Carlitos an award vowing to give his full support in his upcoming badminton competitions.

Among the outstanding achievements of Tolits are:

1st Mayor Albee Benitez Badminton Tournament (Bacolod City) — U11 Boys Singles Gold Medalist (8 years old); PBR Cup-Makati City — U11 Boys Singles Gold Medalist (9 years old); Provincial Meet 2023 — Elementary Boys Singles Gold Medalist Grade 3; R1AA 2023- Elementary Boys Singles Gold medalist and Mixed Doubles Gold medalist; and 1st Junior Regional Badminton Tournament (Pampanga Leg) — U11 Boys Singles Gold medalist and U13 Boys Singles Bronze medalist — 9 years old.
