A 34-year-old woman was shot to death by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle late Thursday afternoon in Barangay Marulas, Valenzuela City.

The victim, identified as Jennelyn, a resident of Barangay Marulas, died instantly from at least four gunshot wounds, according to initial information from the Valenzuela City Police.

CCTV footage shows two men on a black motorcycle approaching Jennelyn around 5:51 p.m. at the corner of F. Bautista Street and MacArthur Highway. After an initial shot, the backrider dismounted and fired additional rounds at the victim, who was then seen lying on the pavement.

The suspects fled toward Barangay Malanday.

Police Major Randy Llanderal, chief public information officer for the Valenzuela City Police, said investigators are looking into illegal drug involvement as a possible motive and cited that the victim was released in 2024 on drug-related charges and had also been frequently reported for theft cases in Barangay Marulas.

“The suspect seemed to have a strong grudge against the victim, returning to fire additional shots to make sure she was dead,” Llanderal said.

A relative of the victim told police they were unaware of any death threats against Jennelyn.

Llanderal added that authorities have identified persons of interest and are reviewing CCTV footage to track the suspects’ escape route. However, he noted that the footage is “quite unclear,” making the motorcycle’s plate number difficult to read. The investigation is ongoing.

Jennelyn’s live-in partner, who is currently in police custody on illegal gambling charges, has been informed of her death.

Valenzuela PNP officer-in-charge PCOL Relly Arnedo is supervising a dragnet operation and is appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects.
