There were no Filipino casualties reported in the Air India crash in Ahmedabad, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said yesterday.
OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan in a message on Thursday evening said they continued to monitor the situation.
“As of now, no Filipino nationals were affected; we are continuously monitoring,” Caunan said.
Air India flight AI171 was flying from Ahmedabad, India to London Gatwick Airport when it crashed moments after take-off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
As of Friday, the death toll on the plane was 241 passengers and crew. There were 230 passengers on board consisting of 169 Indian nationals, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian, and 12 crew members.
One passenger survived, identified as Vishwashkumar Ramesh who was seated next to an emergency exit.
There were a number of victims on the ground after the plane slammed into a building a short distance from the airport.
