National Security Adviser Eduardo Año will stay in the government, Malacañang announced on Tuesday.

In a press briefing at Malacañang, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said Año has been dealing with health issues since the COVID-19 pandemic but has expressed intentions to stay with the National Security Council.

“Secretary Año has been having to deal with health issues ever since the time of the pandemic. However, he has kindly agreed to stay on in the NSC as he feels,” she said, quoting Marcos.

Marcos agreed with Año, noting he can continue to do the “fine job” he has been doing.

Earlier, rumors circulated that Año had submitted his resignation from the government as National Security Adviser.

He has been with the Marcos administration since January 2023.
