The Cebu City Health Department (CCHD) bared on Wednesday that HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) cases in the city reached 110 during the first quarter of the year.
Dr. Kimberly Mae Sanchez, CCHD Social Hygiene Physician raised concern over the continued rise in cases, especially among newly diagnosed patients within the 15 to 34-year-old age group.
The CCHD is urging increased awareness, early testing and education to address the growing trend among the youth and young adults.
The Department of Health (DoH) bared that 5,101 new HIV cases has been recorded since January 2025.
To date, the DoH has documented a total of 148,831 cases since January 1984.
DoH cited as 56 new cases daily has been monitored.
The HIV now poses a bigger public health concern than monkeypox.
