The southwest monsoon continues to bring rainy weather across Luzon today, while scattered thunderstorms are expected in the Visayas and Mindanao, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 4:00 AM bulletin on Sunday, PAGASA warned of monsoon rains over the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, and Bataan. These areas face heightened risks of flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon can also expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms throughout the day. Residents in low-lying areas are advised to be on alert, as flooding and landslides remain possible during intense downpours.
Meanwhile, the Visayas and Mindanao will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening. Though generally fair weather is expected, severe thunderstorms could still trigger localized flooding or landslides.
Winds in Extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to strong from the southwest, causing moderate to rough seas with wave heights of up to 2.8 meters. Small sea vessels are advised to take precautions.
The rest of Luzon, along with Visayas and Mindanao, will see light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas, making most sea travel safe but still subject to changes due to localized thunderstorms.
The public is urged to monitor weather updates regularly and prepare emergency supplies, especially in areas prone to flooding and landslides. PAGASA will issue updated forecasts as conditions change.
