The Commission on Appointments on Wednesday released its schedule of confirmation hearings for next week, with Transportation Secretary Vivencio “Vince” Dizon III set to appear first.
The CA, composed of members from both the Senate and the House of Representatives, will convene on 3 June, a day after Congress resumes session.
Dizon, who took office in February following the resignation of former Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista due to health reasons, was among the Cabinet officials who submitted a courtesy resignation in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive.
He has since been reappointed to his post.
The CA will also deliberate the confirmation of Presidential Communications Secretary Jaybee “Jay” Ruiz, a former broadcast journalist who likewise submitted his resignation as part of the administration’s recalibration of priorities.
Ruiz has held the post since February and was retained by the President. He is scheduled to face the members of the CA on 3 June.
Like other members of the Cabinet, he also submitted his courtesy resignation to Marcos as part of the administration’s move to “re-calibrate” priorities.
Marcos also retained Ruiz in his post, which he has held since February.
Also up for confirmation is former UnionDigital Bank president and chief executive officer Henry Rhoel Aguda, who now leads the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Aguda replaced Ivan John Uy, who resigned in March.
In a separate hearing on 4 June, the CA Committee on Constitutional Commissions and Offices will consider the appointments of Commissioners Noli Pipo and Maria Norina Tangaro-Casingal of the Commission on Elections; Luis Meinrado Pañgulayan of the Civil Service Commission; and Douglas Michael Mallillin of the Commission on Audit.
