The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that its new digital platform, LTOTracker, has been receiving positive feedback from users since its live testing began last month, as the agency prepares for full nationwide implementation.
Developed to streamline the delivery of driver’s licenses and motor vehicle plates, the LTOTracker is part of the national push for digitalization under President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon’s directive to improve government services.
Since its live testing launch on 26 April, thousands of licenses and plates have already been delivered directly to recipients’ homes, with full implementation now underway across Metro Manila.
“The success of the live testing and the positive feedback are indications that the LTOTracker is ready for nationwide deployment,” said LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II.
LTOTracker allows clients to monitor the real-time status of their licenses and plates, and offers home delivery through an accredited courier. Mendoza emphasized that the platform is user-friendly, requiring only a driver’s license number or vehicle details to track items.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon praised the platform as a “historic move toward full digitalization and a game-changing innovation that will bring LTO services closer than ever to Filipinos, right at their fingertips."
LTO has faced longstanding issues, including license plate backlogs since 2014 and a shortage of plastic license cards in early 2023, which led to temporary issuance on paper. These challenges were ongoing when Mendoza assumed office in July 2023.
While the agency now has a stable supply of plastic cards, many motorists are still awaiting their printed licenses and plates. This demand led to the development of LTOTracker as a solution.
“To address problems with driver’s license cards and plate numbers, the LTO developed the LTO Tracker. This online platform allows clients to conveniently check the availability and location of their DL cards and plates,” Mendoza explained.
Through this initiative, Mendoza said registered vehicle owners can now receive their long-delayed plates and licenses more conveniently and efficiently. The delivery system also aids in road safety and compliance by ensuring vehicles are properly registered and traceable.
While LTOTracker includes home delivery, Mendoza clarified that clients may still choose to pick up their licenses and plates from LTO offices if they prefer the traditional method.
While LTOTracker offers courier service, Mendoza said LTO clients will still have the option to go traditional, or by picking up their driver’s license and license plates at LTO offices near them.
But for those who prefer home delivery, he said at least nine courier services are linked to the LTOTracker.
“Any fees for courier services are paid directly by the client to the respective Courier Service Provider. DL cards or plate numbers are packaged in the LTO office to protect the data privacy of the clients,” Mendoza said.
Earlier, Secretary Dizon said the LTOTracker is just the beginning of a major transformation at the LTO, with the ultimate goal of fully digitalizing all services.
He said this initiative eliminates red tape, reduces in-person visits, and maximizes convenience, ensuring that essential LTO services are just a tap away.
“The era of waiting in line for hours is coming to an end. With LTOTracker, government service is finally catching up with the digital age, delivering speed, convenience, and transparency like never before,” Secretary Dizon said.
