Realigned hearts?

TDT

Amid the ongoing reshuffle high up in the government, a few other “realignments” were recently picked up by flapping society ears.

Although this marriage of two beautiful, accomplished people had never been sterling, murmurs of a troubled past were tamped down when they returned to each other’s arms.

But did they?

Long ago, after one partner had strayed into other fields too many, the other decided to horse around too.

Still, as they say in business, “To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart.” (Thomas Watson Sr., 26 September 2023)

Where the heart is today for one of the two, however, seems to be with another, a beautiful young thing in the acting field who was once married (or is she still attached?).

The successful business magnate has been looking more dapper, more fit, and is definitely seen around more. Could his new inspiration be the reason for this?

Mr. Bigshot’s power plate

Nosey Tarsee, ever the keen observer, chanced upon a peculiar sight in the bustling capital: the head of a prominent regulatory agency cruising the city in a sleek Toyota Camry sporting a No. 6 license plate, a designation exclusively reserved for Cabinet secretaries. The use of the high-profile plate raised eyebrows, as it is irregular and contrasts with the supposed independence of his agency.

Shadowing the polished Camry was a formidable backup vehicle, carrying at least four security personnel. The convoy moved with an air of authority, easily cutting through the capital’s chaotic traffic.

Despite the spectacle, the government bigwig seemed utterly unaware of the curious stares and whispered murmurs from passersby, who couldn’t help but gawk at his ostentatious display of power.

His demeanor painted a picture of privilege that clashed with his agency’s mandate of impartiality.

Clue: This official is notably not among those who offered a courtesy resignation to the President, citing the autonomy of the agency he heads, yet his use of a Cabinet-level plate number tells a different story — one of ambition, perhaps, or a deliberate flex of influence.
