Green destination

Pauline Songco

The country’s capital, Manila, is home to millions of Filipinos, big-ticket infrastructures and property developments. There’s also traffic and pollution.

“Research shows clearly that we need nature in our surroundings. We need trees in our streets, plants in our gardens and flowers on our balconies. We need nature as our neighbor all the time. We have a responsibility as human beings to take care of nature in our cities. In return, the benefits to our health would be huge,” Dr. Cecil Koniknendijk, professor of Urban Forestry at the University of British Columbia, said.

Green spaces help reduce the urban heat island effect, a phenomenon where urban areas experience significantly warmer temperatures. Heat, generated mostly by people, transportation and surrounding industries, is trapped in built-up areas.

Parklinks, a 35-hectare master-planned estate developed by Ayala Land Inc. and Eton Properties Philippines Inc., is reshaping the landscape of mixed-use developments by dedicating 50 percent of its total area to parks, open spaces and eco-friendly features.

THE property is fast becoming a model for sustainable growth, offering a vibrant, green and connected lifestyle for the next generation of city dwellers.

One of its defining features is the integration of green networks and wellness spaces. These include a three-hectare Central Park, a riverside Eco Esplanade and the Green Spine, a landscaped corridor that connects key areas of the estate. Jogging paths, bike lanes and shaded walkways encourage mobility, physical activity and environmental awareness among residents. All across the estate, buildings follow green building standards, incorporating energy- and water-saving systems.

At its heart will soon rise Parklinks Mall, a 115,000-sq. m. retail development that will serve as the estate’s social and lifestyle core. Operated by Ayala Malls, the upcoming mall is expected to boost foot traffic and support local economic activity through curated dining, wellness and retail concepts. Right above the mall, a dedicated office tower will cater to businesses seeking modern workspaces in an accessible and eco-conscious environment.

THE Parklinks Bridge.

Recent infrastructure highlights include the newly opened Dr. Lucio Tan Sr. Avenue and the completion of the 110-meter Parklinks Bridge, which spans the Marikina River. A Central Plaza is being built to host community events and gatherings.

On the residential front is Alveo Land’s The Lattice. It offers 537 units from studio to four-bedroom layouts and includes sustainable features such as rainwater harvesting and energy-efficient lighting. Meanwhile, Ayala Land Premier’s North and South Towers provide larger-format residences with panoramic views and direct access to Parklinks Mall and open areas.

By school year 2026–2027, the estate will welcome a new campus of the Multiple Intelligence International School.

Parklinks is along E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue with direct routes to Ortigas, Bonifacio Global City and Makati.
