President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has declared 6 June 2025, a regular holiday throughout the country in observance of Eid’l Adha, or the Feast of Sacrifice, one of the most significant celebrations in Islam.

The declaration is contained in Proclamation No. 911, signed on 21 May, following the recommendation of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos to observe the holiday on that date, in accordance with the 1446 Hijrah Islamic lunar calendar.

Eid’l Adha commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Alayhis Salam) unwavering faith and obedience to Allah. It is a time when Muslim families gather for prayer, reflection, feasting, and giving of gifts.

The observance also marks the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia — one of the Five Pillars of Islam.

Under Republic Act No. 9849, the 10th day of Zhul Hijja, the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar, is declared a national holiday for Eid’l Adha, with the date subject to change depending on the lunar sighting.
