The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) expanded its healthcare and social welfare initiatives with the turnover of 16 Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to various local government units (LGUs) and the donation of mobility aids to a barangay in Cavite.
On 2 May, PCSO officials led by General Manager Melquiades Robles and Chairman Felix Reyes turned over ambulances to 16 LGUs from Agusan del Sur, Cagayan, and Nueva Ecija at the PCSO Main Office in Mandaluyong City. The donation, part of the agency’s Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP), aims to improve emergency medical response in underserved areas.
Beneficiaries include Bayugan City and 13 municipalities in Agusan del Sur, along with Iguig in Cagayan and Peñaranda in Nueva Ecija. According to Robles, the initiative aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to provide every city and town in the country with a dedicated transport vehicle for patients.
“Ang hangarin po ng Pangulo ay mabigyan ng ambulansiya ang bawat bayan sa bawat sulok ng Pilipinas, bilang patunay ng maayos at epektibong serbisyo ng pamahalaan,” Robles said, citing the importance of accessible and efficient government service delivery.
(The President's goal is to provide an ambulance to every town in every corner of the Philippines, as proof of efficient and effective government service.)
To date, a total of 674 ambulances have been distributed to LGUs across the country under the current administration through the MTVDP.
Just days later, on 7 May, the PCSO also turned over 20 wheelchairs and 20 pairs of crutches to Barangay Lucsuhin in Silang, Cavite. The assistive devices were received by Barangay Chairman Arnold Garcia and will be distributed to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
PCSO Corporate Planning Department Manager Atty. Anna Liza Inciong led the handover as part of the agency’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, which aims to uplift communities by supporting inclusive and responsive aid programs.
