The Romualdez-led Lakas-CMD continues to cement its dominance across the country after sweeping nearly 600 local posts, with 104 party members winning seats in the House of Representatives—maintaining its central role and deep influence in the lower chamber.
The winning members for congressional seats will comprise almost one-third of the 316-seat House, making Lakas-CMD one of the largest and most dominant blocs in Congress and tightening its grip on power.
Lakas-CMD reportedly fielded 6,114 candidates in the 2025 midterm elections, including two senatorial candidates—Ramon “Bong” Revilla and Erwin Tulfo—125 congressional district candidates, 21 gubernatorial bets, 29 vice gubernatorial bets, 38 mayoral candidates, and 39 vice mayoral candidates, among others.
The party has secured a Senate seat through Tulfo, who ranked fourth in the 12-seat senatorial race, garnering 16.8 million votes based on the partial and unofficial count as of 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Data obtained from the office of Lakas-CMD president and House Speaker Martin Romualdez showed that out of 125 congressional district candidates, 104 won—including Romualdez himself—of whom 79 are re-elected and 25 are new representatives.
Additionally, 15 governors, 22 vice governors, 24 city mayors, 23 city vice mayors, and 385 municipal mayors under Lakas-CMD also secured their seats.
The numbers are expected to rise further, as vote counting continues in 26 areas, including the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Lanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte), Region IX (Sulu), and Region X (Lanao del Norte).
Nonetheless, current figures suggest that Lakas-CMD retains its dominance not only in the House—which is instrumental in passing the legislative agenda of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.—but also at the grassroots level.
Romualdez and Marcos are cousins. The Romualdez-led Lakas forged an alliance with the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas, a multi-party coalition that includes Marcos’ Partido Federal ng Pilipinas and supports the administration’s reform agenda.
With the House once again dominated by administration allies, the President’s priority bills and policy reforms are expected to pass with minimal resistance, allowing Marcos to maintain momentum in advancing his legislative agenda.
At present, Lakas-CMD holds 112 seats in the House, with the incoming 104 members in the next Congress possibly increasing in the coming months.
Romualdez vowed that Lakas-CMD will remain firmly at the helm of the House majority.
“This is not just a win for Lakas-CMD. This is a strong signal from the Filipino people: they want steady hands, clear direction, and leadership that puts service above self,” he claimed.
“Together with our partners in the Alyansa, we will continue to push for laws that create jobs, protect the vulnerable, improve education, and strengthen our democracy.”
Vice President Sara Duterte, who has been at odds with the Marcos administration and the House leadership, once chaired Lakas-CMD before her high-profile resignation in May 2023, following coup rumors involving top party leaders—Romualdez and former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, a close ally of Duterte.
