Hataman couple wins in Basilan province

ISABELA CITY, Basilan — The Board of Canvassers has officially proclaimed Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman for her third and final term during a proclamation ceremony held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.

The Board of Canvassers, led by Comelec-Isabela City election officer and chair Atty. Mohaimen Ali, vice chair, City Prosecutor Atty. Cesar Bawasanta, and member-secretary Dr. Jay Montealto, Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd SDO-Isabela City, officiated the proclamation on Tuesday.

Also proclaimed was Vice Mayor-elect Ar-Jhemar Ajibon, alongside the 10 newly elected members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

Reelected councilors are Jeromy Casas, Yusop Abubakar, James Abner Rodriguez, Karel Annjaiza Sakkalahul, and Khaleedsher Asarul.

Joining them are the newly elected councilors Alexis Infante Ututalum, Al-Ameen Camlian, Jashim Tiplani, Sara Ismael, and Haizer Salain.

The newly elected officials will begin a new chapter of leadership, which is committed to inclusive growth, strengthened public service, and participatory governance on 30 June 2025.

The proclamation was attended by families, supporters, election officials and members of the local community. With a renewed mandate, the city’s leadership is set to continue its path toward lasting peace, progress and development for all Isabeleños.

Meanwhile, Deputy Minority Leader and Representative of the Lone District of Basilan, Mujiv Hataman, was also proclaimed winner for governor by the Provincial Board of Canvassers.

Mujiv garnered a total of 121,480 votes while his rival, Basilan Board member Atty. Jay Hataman Salliman, garnered a total of 117,840 votes, allowing Mujiv to lead by 3,640 votes.

Out of the 11 towns and two cities in this province, Mujiv won in Isabela City and the towns of Sumisip, Tipo-Tipo, Tuburan and Mohamad Ajul.

While his rival Atty. Salliman dominated in Lamitan City, Ungkaya Pukan, Akbar, Lantawan, Tabuan Lasa, Hadji Mutamad, Maluso and Albarka.
