The Czech Republic is set to open over 10,000 jobs to Filipino workers in an upcoming job fair next week as part of the Philippines–Czech Republic Friendship Week.
According to Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Undersecretary for Policy and International Cooperation Patricia Yvonne Caunan on Wednesday, the Philippines received the largest number of job slots offered by the Czech government to any foreign labor market this year, totaling around 10,500.
“If you’ll recall, because of our good relationship with the Czech Republic, led by no less than our President, the Czech Republic allocated the highest number of slots for foreign workers to Filipinos, amounting to more than 10,500,” she said.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. visited Prague last March 2024 together with DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac, where a joint communiqué on the establishment of labor consultation mechanisms was signed.
The job fair is scheduled on Wednesday, 21 May. Available roles include construction workers, plumbers, machine operators, and assembly line workers.
“There are also workers in their hospitality sector, receptionists, and housekeeping. There are also butchers. They want to hire drivers, but we're still negotiating on that,” Caunan added.
Meanwhile, employers and delegates from Austria are also set to visit the country on 27 May to conduct a job fair. According to the DMW undersecretary, Austrian employers are looking to hire nurses, chefs, cooks, and workers in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
