lloilo City made history in the 2025 midterm elections, with all three top positions set to be led by women.

Raisa Treñas-Chu was elected mayor, becoming the city’s first elected female to hold the post. She secured 170,162 votes (69.37%) against businessman Roland Magahin, who garnered 75,139 votes (30.63%).

Running under Team Uswag, Treñas-Chu campaigned on continuing her father, outgoing Mayor Jerry Treñas’ legacy of public service.

Rep. Julienne “Jam-Jam” Baronda, of Team Sulong Gugma, won a third term in Congress with 178,056 votes (78.13%), defeating Mel Carreon and Danilo Purzuelo.

Despite a political rift with Mayor Treñas, Baronda maintained strong voter support.

In the vice mayoral race, former councilor Lady Julie Grace “Love-Love” Baronda, also of Team Sulong Gugma, won in a tight race, defeating incumbent Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon by a narrow margin.

Baronda received 132,564 votes (52.19%), while Ganzon earned 121,453 votes (47.81%).

Iloilo City Rep. Julienne Baronda and Lady Julie Grace Baronda won their respective positions in this year's elections.
