The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has urged the public to report any election-related misinformation and disinformation through dedicated hotlines, email, and social media channels.

According to PCO Secretary Jay Ruiz, this is part of his office’s efforts in combating fake news, in accordance with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for the 2025 midterm elections.

The PCO chief also integrated the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) with the Integrated State Media (ISM), which is composed of the combined operations of state-media entities.

“Nandito rin, pinagsama rin natin ng Department of Information and Communication Technology, yung DICT sa likod natin, na siya naman nagmo-monitor ng ating mga social media information (Here too, we have also joined forces with the Department of Information and Communication Technology, the DICT behind us, which in turn monitors our social media information),” Ruiz said during his visit to the ISM headquarters on Monday.

He added that the inclusion of the DICT and CICC into the ISM work enables the PCO to identify the proliferation of fake news.

Ruiz said the DICT has been able to take down malicious posts that could affect the midterm polls.

“At ngayon, iilan pa lang naman, at natunugan na natin kaagad, take down kaagad itong mga nagpapakalat ng fake news. Dapat po walang magpakalat ng fake news lalong-lalo na napaka-critical ng boto (And now, there have been a few posts that we have been able to take down, including those who are spreading fake news. No one should spread fake news, especially when the vote is so critical),” he said.

The PCO chief also emphasized the importance of having an election, which is a precursor to a democracy and serves as the foundation of the country.

Members of the public are encouraged to report misleading or false content that could undermine the integrity of the 2025 midterm elections through the following channels.
