National Basketball Association (NBA) star Jeremy Sochan believes success comes to aspiring players who are willing to do the work and stick with it.

During a meet-and-greet at the Vivo 3x3 Grand Finals at the Mall of Asia last Friday, the San Antonio Spurs forward preached about the importance of training the right way and not using any shortcuts.

“There’s a lot of advice, but I think the main thing is don’t skip steps. It’s not always going to be easy, there’s going to be a lot of ups and downs, but you want to be in those moments,” Sochan said.

“You want to learn about yourself and figure it out as a human, as a player, and just have joy with it. That’s the main thing.”

The 21-year-old Polish-American player had some stops before making it to the NBA.

Sochan played high school basketball at Itchen College in England before moving to the United States to play for La Lumiere School in Indiana.

He then competed in OrangeAcademy in Germany from 2020 to 2021 before joining Baylor University from 2021 to 2022.

Selected as the ninth overall pick by San Antonio in the NBA Draft in 2022, Sochan joined the likes of Zach Collins and Gorgui Dieng.

Despite not making the playoffs, Sochan averaged 11 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists to earn a spot in the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2023.
